I Visualized Asheville By Barbara Brady
It was the end of summer in 1999. I had been living in San Francisco for 2 ½ years, and got an intuitive hit “I'm not meant to be here long term”. I wasn't ready to go just then, but laid down on my back in the middle of the living room floor and asked myself, “Okay, since adulthood I've never lived anyplace more than 3 ½ years. Where could I see myself living long term?” I started visualizing and writing down the “perfect” place. “Green rolling hills” is what I saw along with a “small city or town” and a “strong, open-minded, spiritual community”. There were people in Birkenstocks, jeans and riding bikes. I saw joggers, and myself sitting at an outdoor cafe for lunch. This town had ethnic restaurants, lush green trees and mountains, and gorgeous views. Women rarely of ever wore pantyhose. People were friendly. The arts were strong. Coffee shops and tapas and wine bar were included. It was also temperate in weather, with little to no snow, and affordable. Over the next couple of years, I met a few people in my travels I told my vision to. They all said “That sounds like Asheville ”. Finally, in 2002 I was ready to make the move. I contacted two coaches I'd met via teleclasses I'd had at Coach University , Shonnie Lavender and Elizabeth Trezise . They were warm and welcoming “Come on down! You'll love it here!” I came to visit in September of 2002 and moved in October. Barbara Brady Life & Business Coach 828-350-930
